We proudly welcome new and existing NHS patients to our highly rated, modern clinic in Milton Keynes where you can benefit from regular dental health care check-ups and a wide range of treatments.

Our expert team have extensive experience in treating patients for all kinds of general dental conditions. Plans will be made to suit your needs.

When you visit MK Dental practice for a check-up, we will first carry out an examination of your mouth & gums. This is the first part of each course of NHS treatment and is included in the Band 1 (£26.80) charge.

NHS Band Charges

Band What's Covered Cost
Band 1 This covers an examination, diagnosis (including X-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems and preventative care such as the application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant if appropriate. £26.80
Band 2 This covers everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, simple root canal work or removal of teeth but not more complex items covered by Band 3. £73.50
Band 3 This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures, bridges and other laboratory work. £319.10
Emergency This covers emergency care in a primary care NHS dental practice such as pain relief or a temporary filling. £26.80

You require a check up so we can assess your current oral health, any risk of future disease, and advise you on the care and treatment required to secure good oral health. It is important that you try to keep your teeth healthy and clean to maintain good oral health.

Cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening are not available on the NHS as they are not clinically necessary. Even where treatment is clinically necessary, MK Dental will offer you a treatment option that is appropriate. If you choose to have alternative treatment options, then you will have to pay for them privately.

Who is entitled to free NHS dental treatment in England?

Dentistry is one of the few NHS services where the patient is required to pay a contribution towards the cost of their dental care. However, there are some circumstances where you may be eligible for a free treatment.

You will not have to pay for NHS dental treatment if you are:

  • Under 18, or under 19 and in full-time education
  • Pregnant or have had a baby in the previous 12 months
  • Being treated in the NHS hospital and your treatment is carried out by the hospital dentist (but you may have to pay for any dentures or bridges)
  • Receiving low income benefits, or you're under 20 and a dependant of someone receiving low income benefits

You're also entitled to free NHS dental treatment if you or your spouse (including civil partner) receive:

  • Income Support
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
  • Universal Credit (in certain circumstances)
